Licence activities

Remote bingo operating licence

This activity allows you to provide bingo games to customers via a website, apps, mobile, interactive TV or radio.

Regardless of where you are based in the world, you need a licence from us if:

  • you are providing facilities for gambling to consumers in Great Britain online (or through any other means of remote communication)
  • any part of your remote gambling equipment is based in Great Britain.

There is a remote operating licence for each type of gambling activity you might want to provide.

The remote bingo operating licence allows you to provide bingo games to customers via a website, through mobile technology, interactive TV services or radio technology. If you contract with any of the participants who use your gambling facilities (that is if any of those participants are your own customers) then you will need this licence instead of the bingo (game host) operating licence.

If you are a gambling software business that provides facilities for remote bingo but only in circumstances in which you host those facilities through other operators’ platforms, then you may be eligible to hold a bingo (host) operating licence. To hold a host licence, your business:

  • must hold a gambling software operating licence, and
  • must not contract directly with any of the customers who play the bingo games you provide, that is, only customers of another operator can access your bingo games via that other operator’s website or app.

Please see the bingo (host) licence for further details.
