Processes and procedures in place for assessing existing licensees

Request

I’m very pleased you have ”robust and effective processes and procedures in place which are utilised when assessing existing licensees. These procedures and processes have been put in place to minimise the risk of an operator continuing to provide gambling services where they do not meet the required standards”.

My concern is that you don’t, and don’t have any interest in the problem of unlawful marketing in your sector.

Please therefore provide the references processes and procedures, along with the supporting evidence to demonstrate they are robust and effective.

Response

Thank you for your enquiry which has been processed as a request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA).

In your email you have requested the Gambling Commissions ‘references processes and procedures, along with the supporting evidence to demonstrate they are robust and effective.’

The Gambling Commission regulates most types of gambling in Great Britain, including The National Lottery in the UK. We also license the individuals and businesses that offer gambling and provide them with advice and guidance.

Section 21 of the FOIA provides that information is exempt where it is reasonably accessible elsewhere. The Gambling Commission exists to safeguard players and the wider public by ensuring gambling is fair and safe. The ways in which we do this, including processes and procedures, are published on our website: How we regulate - Gambling Commission

Please note, if this information does not fulfil your request please submit a further request specifying the recorded information you require.
