Licensing Authority Statistics 2021 to 2022 – Revision
Details about the Licensing Authority Statistics 2021 to 2022.
Additional data sets in this series
This report provides statistics by Licensing Authorities (LAs) in respect of their duties under the Gambling Act 2005 (opens in new tab) for the regulation of gambling in Great Britain.
This is a revision of the data published in October 2022, in which the additional submissions received have been included for the most recent period, April 2021 to March 2022.
This edition reports on the period between April 2021 and March 2022. For reference, the accompanying Excel file contains comparative data dating back to April 2012.
The Excel document features data supplied by 338 LAs in Great Britain.
This publication is primarily for anyone who has an involvement or interest in the gambling industry, including government and local authorities.
About the status of official statistics.
This year 338 of Britain’s 363 Local Authorities (LAs) supplied data for the report. Because of this data shortage we could not produce a complete full report.
The 25 LAs who have not submitted a return are:
- Aberdeenshire Council
- Boston Borough Council
- City of York Council
- Crawley Borough Council
- Derbyshire Dales District Council
- City of Edinburgh Council
- Fenland District Council
- Gloucester City Council
- Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council
- Lancaster City Council
- Leeds City Council
- Liverpool City Council
- London Borough of Barnet
- London Borough of Camden
- London Borough of Harrow
- Manchester City Council

- Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council
- Scottish Borders Council
- Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council

Please note some changes were made to the 2021/22 publication. The Licensing Authority Statistics for 2021/22 only contain statistics regarding inspections (including test purchase visits) and Local Authority Compliance Events.
We are always keen to hear how these statistics are used and would welcome your views on changes to this publication.
