Online gambling stats 2015-2018

Request

Would it be possible to receive statistical data on population participating in online betting or gambling by age group prior to 2018? From 2015-2018 would be very helpful.

Response

Thank you for your request which has been processed under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA).

In your email you have requested statistical data on population participating in online betting or gambling by age group prior to 2018?

Section 21 of the FOIA provides that information is exempt where it is reasonably accessible elsewhere.

There are two surveys which capture this type of information. Our quarterly telephone survey and the Health surveys. Both of which are available within the public domain.

Telephone Survey – These contain 5 years’ worth of data so cover the period 2015-2018. The data covers Great Britain.

Health Surveys – These also have online metrics in. Please note that the report for 2018 is England only not Great Britain like the other two reports. Further to this, there was no gambling report in 2017.
