Licensing authority statistics 2019 to 2020

Details about the Licensing authority statistics 2019 to 2020

Summary

This report provides statistics by licensing authorities (LAs) in respect of their duties under the Gambling Act 2005 (opens in new tab) for the regulation of gambling in Great Britain.

This edition reports on the periods between April 2014 and March 2020. For reference, the accompanying Excel file contains comparative data dating back to April 2009.

The Excel document features data supplied by 241 LAs in Great Britain.

Notes

This publication is primarily for anyone who has an involvement or interest in the gambling industry including government and local authorities.

About the status of official statistics.

This year only 241 of Britain’s 371 LAs supplied data for the report. Because of this data shortage we could not produce a meaningful full report.

Updated 7 May 2021

A new version of the Local Authority Statistics 01 April 2010 to 31 March 2020 Superseded excel file was uploaded because the original excel file presented data in tab 4.1 in a different way to previous Local Authority Statistics. Tab 4.1 in the superseded version can now be compared to previous years as it excludes pre-planned inspections to premises where a Gambling Act permit is required but not an operating license from the Gambling Commission.
