Gifts and hospitality register
This register contains details of all gifts and hospitality received over the value of £10. In some cases, we redact personal data which is exempt from disclosure. The Data Protection Act 2018 (opens in new tab) requires the processing of personal data to be fair and lawful. It would be disproportionate for us to publicly disclose the identity of certain individuals given their position within the Commission unless there is a strong public interest in doing so. These individuals have a legitimate expectation that their personal details will not be disclosed unnecessarily as they are not in public facing roles or roles that are senior enough to warrant their identities being made publicly available.
On balance, there is no legitimate public interest in disclosing their identity and it would not be fair to do so. This information is therefore exempt under section 40(2) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (opens in new tab).
