Annual fee income 2015 to 2016
Our costs for regulating gambling (excluding the National Lottery) rose this year from £15.8m to £16.9m (7.0%). This was due to the considerable increase in regulatory work under our expanded remit following the introduction of the Gambling (Licensing and Advertising) Act 2014.
This Act expands our role to include regulation of operators based overseas providing online gambling facilities for consumers in Britain. We expect the changes in costs to stabilise over the next three years while at the same time, in line with the Government’s Comprehensive Spending Review, we continue to improve our overall efficiency.
We are currently consulting on proposals for changes to the fees structure which, if implemented, will take effect in April 2017, see website for details.
We will continue to focus on issues and operators that potentially present the greatest risk to the licensing objectives.

Our priority is to protect the interests of vulnerable consumers and of everyone who wants to enjoy gambling – keeping it safe, fair and crime free. How we use your licence fee
