Staff networks at the Gambling Commission

This is an information request relating to staff networks.

Please include the following information for the following years,2019/20, 2020/21, 2021/22 and 2022/23:

  • A list of all the staff networks at the organisation
  • Whether each network receives internal funding and, if so, how much (please express annually for the last four financial years)
  • How much FTE equivalent staff time each network is entitled to. For example, a staff network may have a chair who's entitled to spend 10% of their working hours devoted to the network (please express annually for the last three financial years)
  • A list of events that each network has held in this financial year so far (April to the present day), including the title of the event, information on any guest speakers and the time of the event

Thank you for your request which has been processed under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA).

In your email you have requested information relating to staff networks, Including the following information for the years,2019/20, 2020/21, 2021/22 and 2022/23:

  1. A list of all the staff networks at the organisation
  2. Whether each network receives internal funding and, if so, how much (please express annually for the last four financial years)
  3. How much FTE equivalent staff time each network is entitled to. For example, a staff network may have a chair who's entitled to spend 10% of their working hours devoted to the network (please express annually for the last three financial years)
  4. A list of events that each network has held in this financial year so far (April to the present day), including the title of the event, information on any guest speakers and the time of the event.

The recorded information falling within the scope of this request is as follows:

  1. I can confirm that there are currently four network groups at the Commission:
  • Parents and Carers Group
  • PRIDE Group
  • Neurodiversity Network
  1. Groups do not have specific funding but can request resources to support events or training requirements, approval for this would go through appropriate governance channels. To date no specific budget request has been made by a network group.
  2. There is currently no set FTE allowance in place for network members or network Chairs but this is subject to further review.
  3. The Commission Networks have regular informal lunch time sessions for colleagues from across the organisation to meet and engage. Further to this, for our PRIDE network, that launched in February, we hosted an event which was a ‘Lunch and Learn: A workshop with Birmingham LGBT’. It was from 1pm-2pm on 20

Review of the decision

If you are unhappy with the service you have received in relation to your Freedom of Information request you are entitled to an internal review of our decision. Please note, internal review requests should be made within 40 working days of the initial response. Requests made outside this timeframe will not be processed.

If you are not content with the outcome of our review, you may then apply directly to the Information Commissioner (ICO) for a decision. Generally, the ICO cannot make a decision unless you have already exhausted the review procedure provided by the Gambling Commission.
