Results of the 'mini-survey'
Request
Please can you disclose to me the quantitative results of the ‘mini-survey’ that formed part of the call for evidence on affordability checks (launched in January 2021 and closed the following month).
Please note that I would like you to send me the actual quantitative results from the survey rather than the narrative description published by the Gambling Commission on 1st May. This is consistent with the commitment made by the Gambling Commission on 2nd October when it wrote that:
“The results from this survey, alongside the responses to the current consultation on the topic of financial risk, will be published on the Gambling Commission website in due course.”
Response
Thank you for your request which has been processed under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA).
In your email you have requested the quantitative results of the 'mini-survey' that formed part of the call for evidence on affordability checks (launched in January 2021 and closed the following month).
Please find attached information about the numbers participating in the short consumer facing survey that accompanied our customer interaction consultation and call for evidence, and their responses to the multi-choice questions. It should be noted that at the time of this survey we were seeking views on the concept of affordability or financial risk measures rather than seeking views on any specific proposals. The Government White Paper later set out their position on financial risk measures and we consulted on our proposals last year.
Our consultation response of 1 May confirmed that Financial Vulnerability Checks would be introduced from 30 August and that a pilot of Financial Risk Assessments would begin on the same date.
Review of the decision
If you are unhappy with the service you have received in relation to your Freedom of Information request you are entitled to an internal review of our decision. You should write to FOI Team, Gambling Commission, 4th floor, Victoria Square House, Victoria Square, Birmingham, B2 4BP or by reply to this email.
Please note, internal review requests should be made within 40 working days of the initial response. Requests made outside this timeframe will not be processed.
If you are not content with the outcome of our review, you may then apply directly to the Information Commissioner (ICO) for a decision. Generally, the ICO cannot make a decision unless you have already exhausted the review procedure provided by the Gambling Commission.
It should be noted that if you wish to raise a complaint with the ICO about the Commission’s handling of your request for information, then you are required to do so within six weeks of receiving your final response or last substantive contact with us.
The ICO can be contacted at: The Information Commissioner’s Office (opens in a new tab), Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF.
