Consumer misunderstanding of return to player

- Any internal or commissioned research, summaries, or evaluations produced or referenced by the Commission between 2017 and 2021 that relate to:
- players' understanding or misunderstanding of RTP;
- cognitive misinterpretation of gambling odds by players;
- findings used in consideration of updates to the LCCP, RTS, or public-facing guidance.
If the Commission holds any internal memos, correspondence, evidence briefings, stakeholder summaries, or policy input documents that mention such findings (even if not authored by Lloyd & Wood).

Thank you for your request which has been processed under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA).
In your email you have referred to a research work frequently attributed to Lloyd & Wood (2019) in discussions surrounding consumer misunderstanding of Return to Player (RTP) in gambling contexts especially slot machines. Specifically:
- any internal or commissioned research, summaries, or evaluations produced or referenced by the Commission between 2017 and 2021 that relate to:
- players' understanding or misunderstanding of RTP;
- cognitive misinterpretation of gambling odds by players;
- findings used in consideration of updates to the LCCP, RTS, or public-facing guidance.

The Commission has used the following search criteria to search Commission systems to identify information that may fall within the scope of your request:
- “Consumer misunderstanding of return to player” OR
- “Consumer misunderstanding of RTP”
- Date range 01/01/20217 to 31/12/2021
The above search did not return any results therefore, based on these search parameters, no information is held falling within the scope of your request.
Review of the decision
If you are unhappy with the service you have received in relation to your Freedom of Information request you are entitled to an internal review of our decision.
