Policy

Corporate Governance Framework

Our corporate governance framework sets out the necessary responsibilities and procedures that guarantee we operate properly.

Scope

    3.0
    1. The Speak Up (Whistleblowing) Policy applies to employees of the Gambling Commission or those temporarily working at or for the Commission. It can be used to report any wrongdoing as referred to at 2.2.

    2. Concerns relating to interpersonal behaviour, like workplace bullying, may fall in scope of this policy or you may be directed to the Dignity at Work policy and/or the Grievance policy. This will depend on the behaviour and its context.

    3. Externally made allegations which name a member of staff or a person connected to the Commission may be treated as a whistleblowing disclosure and triaged accordingly, although the person raising the concern will not be subject to the protections in the Public Interest Disclosure Act (1998) (PIDA).

    4. Whistleblowing disclosures about organisations or individuals we regulate, or other third-party organisations are not covered by this policy. The PIDA makes special provision for disclosure to ‘prescribed persons’. There is a list of prescribed bodies (opens in new tab) to which malpractice can be reported. Whilst the Commission is not a prescribed body under the PIDA legislation, we will manage information received about the industry by individuals whistleblowing within the industry, using the principles of a prescribed body, and all information will be treated in confidence. These disclosures can be made to our Intelligence Team on 0121 230 6655 or Tell us something in confidence using the online form.
