Expert groups

3.28 Members of expert groups are not decision-makers within the Gambling Commission, but they must meet the expectations of any appointees to a public body.

3.29 Each expert group will have its own terms of reference and specific terms of appointment, but all members of advisory groups will be required to:

  • comply with the seven principles of public life (opens in new tab) and meet the requirements of the Cabinet Office’s Code of Practice for Board Members of Public Bodies (opens in new tab)
  • act in good faith and in the best interests of the Commission
  • avoid the misuse of information gained in the course of his or her public service for personal gain or for political profit, nor seek to use the opportunity of public service to promote their private interests or those of connected persons or organisations
  • comply with the Commission’s rules on the acceptance of gifts and hospitality and conflicts of interest as set out in their terms of appointment and the Commission’s Managing Interests and Gifts and Hospitality Policy.
