Gambling licensing day of action

14 June 2016

As part of its 20th year activities, and to raise awareness generally about licensing and its impact on everyday lives, the Institute of Licensing is holding its first annual licensing awareness week from 20 – 24 June (opens in new tab).

Tuesday 21 June will focus on gambling licensing and the Gambling Commission sees this as a great opportunity to showcase some of the partnership working it does with licensing authorities around the country.

To support the week of action the Commission has lined up a number of joint visits to various gambling licensed premises including betting shops, adult gaming centres and tracks using the inspection templates for assessment at gambling premises developed by the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Licensing Forum and the Leicester and Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership (LLEP) (opens in new tab).

Rob Burkitt, Policy Development Manager, said:

“Working with our shared regulatory partners is a key priority for the Commission so we are delighted that licensing authorities from Torfaen to Shepway, Hinckley and Bosworth and Exeter and many others have been able to coordinate joint visits on this day. As well as using the templates for the first time for some, it will be a useful opportunity for officers to look at the premises risk assessments which has been a new requirement for operators since April this year.”
