RFID technology on roulette table

Request

  1. A list of all licensed land-based casino operators in the UK that have declared or disclosed the use of RFID technology on roulette tables to the Gambling Commission, during inspections or in audit reports from 2015 to the present.
  2. Copies of any inspection reports, audit findings, or technical documentation submitted by these operators which reference the use of RFID systems for:
  3. Chip tracking or chip value identification
  4. Real-time bet mapping
  5. Data collection related to betting patterns or outcomes
  6. Any regulatory guidance, technical standards, or disclosure requirements provided by the Gambling Commission to operators regarding the deployment and declaration of RFID systems in live table games, including roulette.
  7. Details of any investigations, compliance actions, or complaints received by the Gambling Commission regarding undisclosed or suspicious use of RFID technology in land-based roulette tables.

Response

Thank you for your request which has been processed under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA).

In your email you have requested:

  7. Details of any investigations, compliance actions, or complaints received by the Gambling Commission regarding undisclosed or suspicious use of RFID technology in land-based roulette tables.

The Gambling Commission can confirm that no information is held falling within the scope of your request.

However, the Commission can direct you to the Bingo and casino technical requirements should you wish to review the requirements and/or make suggestions for future improvements to these requirements.

Review of the decision

If you are unhappy with the service you have received in relation to your Freedom of Information request you are entitled to an internal review of our decision. Please note, internal review requests should be made within 40 working days of the initial response. Requests made outside this timeframe will not be processed.

If you are not content with the outcome of our review, you may then apply directly to the Information Commissioner (ICO) for a decision. Generally, the ICO cannot make a decision unless you have already exhausted the review procedure provided by the Gambling Commission. 

It should be noted that if you wish to raise a complaint with the ICO about the Commission’s handling of your request for information, then you are required to do so within six weeks of receiving your final response or last substantive contact with us.
