Request
I am writing to request information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 regarding the most recently implemented employee pay award within your organisation.
Please provide the following information:
1) The percentage pay increase that was implemented for employees under the latest pay award.
2) If different percentage increases were applied to different grades, pay bands, or employee groups, please provide the percentage increase applicable to each.
3) The date on which the pay award was formally implemented.
4) If the pay award was backdated, please provide:
- The effective date from which the pay increase was backdated.
- The date on which the backdated payment was made to employees.

Thank you for your request which has been processed under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA).
In your email you have requested the following information regarding the most recently implemented employee pay award:
1) The percentage pay increase that was implemented for employees under the latest pay award.
2) If different percentage increases were applied to different grades, pay bands, or employee groups, please provide the percentage increase applicable to each.
3) The date on which the pay award was formally implemented.
4) If the pay award was backdated, please provide:
- The effective date from which the pay increase was backdated.
- The date on which the backdated payment was made to employees.
The Gambling Commission complies with the pay rules set out annually in the Civil Service Pay Remit. The most recent pay award that has been implemented was 2025/26 and the Pay Remit guidance can be found here: The Civil Service Pay Remit Guidance - 2025 to 2026 (opens in new tab). The 2026/27 pay award has not yet been settled.
In relation to your request, the Gambling Commission can confirm as follows:
1) A 3.25% increase was awarded to eligible staff in 2025/26.
2) No information is held falling within the scope of this part of your request.
3) and 4) Following a consultation with our recognised trade union, PCS, the pay award was implemented for all eligible staff in November 2025. Payments were backdated to 01 April 2025.
Review of the decision
If you are unhappy with the service you have received in relation to your Freedom of Information request you are entitled to an internal review of our decision. Please note, internal review requests should be made within 40 working days of the initial response. Requests made outside this timeframe will not be processed.
If you are not content with the outcome of our review, you may then apply directly to the Information Commissioner (ICO) for a decision. Generally, the ICO cannot make a decision unless you have already exhausted the review procedure provided by the Gambling Commission.
It should be noted that if you wish to raise a complaint with the ICO about the Commission’s handling of your request for information, then you are required to do so within six weeks of receiving your final response or last substantive contact with us.
