9 - The role of the sponsorship team

9.1. The Gambling Commission (the Commission) Sponsorship Lead in the department is the primary contact for the Commission.The responsible senior civil servant for this relationship is the Deputy Director for gambling and lotteries. They are the main source of advice to the responsible Minister on the discharge of their responsibilities in respect of the Commission. They also support the Principal Accounting Officer (PAO) on their responsibilities toward the Gambling Commission.

9.2. Officials of the Commission Sponsorship team in the sponsor department will liaise regularly with Commission officials to review performance against plans, achievement against targets and expenditure against its Departmental Expenditure Limits (DEL) and Annually Managed Expenditure (AME) allocations. The Gambling Commission Sponsorship team will also take the opportunity to explain wider policy developments that might have an impact on the Commission.
