Consumer research

As part of their consultation responses, the trade associations representing the casino, AGC and bingo sectors submitted the results of consumer research undertaken on their behalf by Chrysalis Research.

This research found that:

  • consumers in the casino and AGC sectors were, in the main, supportive of the provision of limit setting functionality and 30 second breaks in play. For bingo consumers, there was not much of a difference between those favouring or opposing the limit setting proposal (36 percent for, 38 percent against) whilst they were slightly more opposed to the break in play increasing to 30 seconds (37 percent for, 43 percent against)
  • consumers in the casino sector were, in the main, supportive of the concept of staff monitoring and interventions (38 percent for, 13 percent opposed) although they were against the default thresholds proposed. AGC customers were broadly supportive of the concept of staff alerts (42 percent for, 33 percent against) whilst the majority of bingo consumers surveyed were opposed to staff alerts (27 percent for, 53 percent against).

We would welcome the trade associations publishing the full reports so that all interested stakeholders can review the findings.
