The Gambling Commission was set up under the Gambling Act 2005 to regulate commercial gambling in Great Britain. On 1 October 2013 we also took over the responsibilities of the National Lottery Commission to regulate the National Lottery under the National Lottery etc. Act 1993:  Who we are and what we do

Gambling (Licensing and Advertising) Act

  • Due to a High Court challenge, DCMS will be taking the necessary steps to postpone this legislation coming into force until 1 November 2014.  This will allow a judgment to be made without undue time pressure.
