2. CEO Report: Management of the crisis (SR12 – COVID-19)

The CEO ran through the presentation by section, as follows, with the Head of Market Insight presenting for most of part 1:

The slides show the Commission’s impact modelling based on updated data and on the emerging path from lockdown, both for the wider economy and the gambling sector specifically.

Part 2 – corporate plans for recovery from COVID-19

The Commission is working to develop its own exit strategy, keeping up with the industry and addressing the concerns of its employees. A working group has been set up to lead this work and has begun to develop a framework of principles liaising with trade bodies, awaiting further guidance from the Government in mid-June 2020, looking at a gradual, phased reopening.

3. Appointment of new Committee memberships (SR9 – improve the way we regulate)

The Board noted the paper.

The Board approved the recommendation, as set out in the Board paper, as follows:

  • the revised membership of Audit and Risk Committee, Finance and Performance Committee, National Lottery Committee and Remuneration Committee as listed at paragraphs 2 and 3 of the Board paper, effective 22 May 2020
  • action required to put the revised committee membership into effect will be undertaken by the Board Secretary
  • the Board also approved the creation of the Finance and Performance Committee. with Terms of Reference to be tabled at the 18 June 2020 Board meeting for approval.
