Protecting National Lottery players
Protecting players is an important part of our responsibility to ensure that the interests of all players are protected.
To protect National Lottery players we:
- make sure there are controls in place to stop underage players (people under 18)
- make sure there is clear information about the different games, how to play and how to claim prizes
- make sure there are controls to prevent excessive play
- approve the rules and procedures for each game
- give information to the public about lottery scams
- work with Camelot to agree performance standards for player services
- handle complaints, where a player has exhausted Camelot’s complaints procedures and is unhappy with their service.
To protect National Lottery winners we:
- make sure Camelot pays their prize quickly
- make sure Camelot protects their anonymity (if winners choose to remain anonymous)
- protect against possible fraud, by making sure Camelot has the right security checks for people who win more than £50,000.
