TGP Europe trading name enquiry

Request date: 14 April 2023

Request

Are you able to indicate when the trading name changed and which operator requested the name change?

As I understand it, requesting a change in trading name will have resulted in a new operating licence being issued. Was the new licence issued to Fesuge Limited, TGP Europe Limited, or another operator?

In a public statement issued by the Gambling Commission in 2017, TGP Europe Limited and Fesuge Limited were described as being 'part of a single group of companies'. Are you able to indicate the name of that group, or provide any further details about it?

Response

I am writing to you following our partial response to your request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) with the remaining answers to your query.

Please accept our sincerest apologies for the delay in our response and for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Firstly, the Gambling Commissions response to part three of your original request is as follows:

In a public statement issued by the Gambling Commission in 2017, TGP Europe Limited and Fesuge Limited were described as being 'part of a single group of companies'. Are you able to indicate the name of that group, or provide any further details about it?

I can confirm that no information is held falling within the scope of this part of your request.

TGP Europe Limited and Fesuge Limited were not part of a single group of companies. Rather they were owned by separate companies that were owned by some of the same owners.

Further to this we have also considered your follow up enquiry where you have asked:

Were both TGP Europe and Fesuge Limited using the domain name 138.co.uk between January and June 2020? And, if so, how?

As stated in our original response, TGP Europe Ltd reported to us using 138.co.uk also as a domain name from 31 January 2020 to 30 June 2020.

Fesuge Limited reported using the domain name 138.co.uk from 12 June 2018 until they surrendered its licence on 07/08/2020.

The Commission does not hold any recorded information that prevents operators using the same domain name.

Domain names used for gambling products are notified to the Commission, we do not approve or authorise the use of domain names. It is unusual that a domain name would be registered a live with 2 licensees. However, through third party agreements and sales between licensees, the running of gambling products linked to specific domain names can transfer between licensees. On occasions, notifications from licensees about the domain names may be delayed and the domain register may not be 100% accurate. However, a website offering gambling products must be clear about which licence gambling is being provided in reliance on.
