Please can you disclose to me copies of Gambling Commission correspondence and memoranda (including any meeting minutes or meeting notes) with the National Institute of Economic and Social Research in relation to its report, 'The Fiscal Costs and Benefits of Problem Gambling: Towards Better Estimates' (Bhattacharjee et al., 2023)? I request this information in relation to the period August 2021 to April 2023 (inclusive).

In your email you have requested copies of Gambling Commission correspondence and memoranda (including any meeting minutes or meeting notes) with the National Institute of Economic and Social Research in relation to its report, 'The Fiscal Costs and Benefits of Problem Gambling: Towards Better Estimates' (Bhattacharjee et al., 2023, for the period August 2021 to April 2023 (inclusive).

I can confirm that the Commission does hold information falling within the scope of your request. Please see the attached documents we are able to provide in answer to your request.

We have redacted from all of the attachments information relating to identifiable individuals that would constitute personal data.

The Data Protection Act 2018 requires personal data to be processed lawfully, fairly and in a transparent manner in relation to the data subject. It is the view of the Commission that disclosing the personal information within the attached documents would constitute the disclosure of personal data and would contravene this principle.

This information is therefore exempt under section 40(2) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

Review of the decision
