I am requesting public statements on the events that happened in 2019, where Ladbrokes Coral Group had to pay £5.9 million for past failings in anti-money laundering and social responsibility. It states on your webpage that GVC, after the event, committed to making a number of improvements to the business including overhauling its responsible gaming and customer interaction processes, retraining staff, and hiring new staff. It would be immensely useful if I could have any public statements by GVC, in regard to this event.

Thank you for your request which has been processed under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA).

In your email you have requested public statements on the events that happened in 2019, where Ladbrokes Coral Group had to pay £5.9 million for past failings in anti-money laundering and social responsibility. Section 21 of the FOIA provides that information is exempt where it is reasonably accessible elsewhere. The Gambling Commission regularly publishes new updates regarding enforcement action which has been taken. Further to this, when any regulatory decisions are made, we release details of our enforcement activity through public statements. The public statements will detail the nature of the failings by the operator and the amount of the fine or settlement.

These public statements are available on the Commission website for a period of three years from the date of publication. As such the public statement corresponding to the case you have referenced in your request is no longer available on our website. Please see attached a copy of said public statement.

Review of the decision
