Request

What proportion of the Gambling Commission's funding is received from gambling companies each year over the past 5 years? The response should also include whether the Gambling Commission operated at a surplus or a deficit that year.

Response

Thank you for your request which has been processed under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA).

In your email you have requested what the proportion of the Gambling Commission's funding is received from gambling companies each year over the past 5 years? The response should also include whether the Gambling Commission operated at a surplus or a deficit that year.

The Gambling Commission is an independent public body. We are funded in two ways:

The Gambling Commission publishes its total income from fees as part of its Annual Report and Accounts, including any surplus or deficit.

Section 21 of the FOIA provides that information is exempt where it is reasonably accessible elsewhere. The Commission's most recent and historic annual report and accounts can be found here:

You should write to FOI Team, Gambling Commission, 4th floor, Victoria Square House, Victoria Square, Birmingham, B2 4BP or by reply to this email.

Please note, internal review requests should be made within 40 working days of the initial response. Requests made outside this timeframe will not be processed.
