Regulatory returns: proposals for new templates
Start
date: 25 June 2010
End date: 23 July 2010
The Gambling Commission collects regulatory returns from operators
both for compliance purposes and to enable it to fulfil its
obligation to provide advice about gambling and the gambling
industry to the Secretary of State at the Department of Culture,
Media and Sport.
With two years’ experience of collecting and analysing the
information provided by operators, it has become apparent that
there is more we could do to help some sectors of the industry
provide the necessary information, by broadening the suite of
information templates we make available. This paper sets out our
proposals to achieve that aim. This consultation is not about
the requirement to submit regulatory returns, which has already
been established, it is solely about the types of data we
are proposing to collect through the new templates and whether
the questions asked represent a proportionate and appropriate
information request.
We are consulting formally on these proposals. This will be a
four week consultation and we would welcome comments by Friday 23
July 2010. In particular we would like to hear the views
of the operators affected by these proposals, so that we can ensure
that the regulatory returns remain practical and feasible for
different types of business. Further details of how to respond
are at section 6 of the consultation.
The Commission will also be consulting separately on proposals for
certain changes to all regulatory returns. Any elements on the
new templates that collect information that is common to all the
returns may be affected by the outcome of the wider consultation on
regulatory returns. Operators will have the opportunity to
comment when the main consultation is launched during the
summer.
