This consultation is now closed

This informal consultation set out our proposals to improve the application process and information requirements for remote operating licence applications. It sought views on those changes, in particular the proposal to adopt the Multi-Jurisdictional Business Form (MJBF), as part of the application process.

Remote operating licence application review - consultation response

The consultation also set out the way in which we propose to exchange information with other gambling regulators to avoid unnecessary duplication and reduce the burden on applicants.

The implementation of the Gambling (Licensing and Advertising) Act 2014 will mean a large number of overseas-based operators will be required to make application for a Commission remote operating licence.

Many of those applying will already hold a remote operating licence in one or more gambling jurisdictions across the world. In reviewing the application process we are taking the opportunity to review the information and evidence we require of remote operating licence applicants at the application stage and, where applicable, to bring those requirements in line with those sought by other regulators.

We are developing our eServices

This is a range of efficient online services to reduce the regulatory burden on licensed operators. We will require applicants for remote operating licences to complete and submit applications online, uploading supporting documents where applicable through the secure eServices portal on our website.

The timetable for the introduction of the new application process and information requirements will mirror the timetable for acceptance of applications following the introduction of the Gambling (Licensing and Advertising) Act 2014.
