The Gambling Commission meets local communities
Press release
Date: 19 March
2010
In the next of a series of open events in various locations
across England and Wales, the Gambling Commission is coming to
Louth this week:
When: Thursday 25 March, from 9.45am – 3.30pm
Where: Kenwick Park Hotel, Kenwick Park
The events are part of a nationwide outreach programme to give
smaller operators the chance to meet the Commission and discuss
industry issues.
Key individuals from the Commission will be present and
available for media interviews, including the Director of Strategy,
Research & Analysis, Matthew Hill and Commissioner, Ben Gunn.
The Commission’s local compliance manager will also be present, and
more than 30 small businesses from Louth and the east coast are
expected to attend.
After consulting operators, the Commission has drawn up an
agenda to cover a broad range of issues, including fees and the
exclusion of minors. Time has been allocated to discuss
arcades, on-course bookmakers and off-course bookmakers, and the
Commission welcomes suggestions from operators for further
topics.
More than 200 operators have attended similar events in the
North West and South West in recent weeks and further meetings are
planned across Britain over the next three months.

or exploited by gambling. The Commission also provides independent
advice to government on gambling in Britain.
- 2. The Commission is responsible for licensing and regulating
all gambling in Great Britain other than the National Lottery and
spread betting, which are the responsibility of the National

respectively.
