The Gambling Commission meets local communities

In the third of a series of open events in various locations across the country, the Gambling Commission is coming to Cardiff next week:

When:  Monday 22 February, from 9.45am – 3.30pm
Where:  Village Hotel, 29 Pendwyallt Road, Cardiff

The events are part of a nationwide outreach programme to give smaller operators the chance to meet the Commission and discuss industry issues.

Key individuals from the Commission will be available, including the Director of Regulation, Nick Tofiluk and board member, Gill Milburn JP. The Commission’s local compliance manager will also be present, and 30 small businesses from Cardiff and South Wales are expected to attend.

After consulting operators, the Commission has drawn up an agenda to cover a broad range of issues, including fees and the exclusion of minors. Time has been allocated to discuss  arcades, on-course bookmakers and off-course bookmakers, and the Commission welcomes suggestions from operators for further topics.

More than 70 operators have attended similar events in Bolton and Lancaster in recent weeks and a further 13 meetings are planned across Britain over the next five months

The Gambling Commission

  1. 1. The Gambling Commission (the Commission) regulates gambling in the public interest. It does so by keeping crime out of gambling, by ensuring that gambling is conducted fairly and openly, and by protecting children and vulnerable people from being harmed or exploited by gambling. The Commission also provides independent advice to government on gambling in Britain.
