Our offices

Victoria Square HouseThe Gambling Commission’s main office is in central Birmingham, within easy reach of Birmingham New Street, Snow Hill and Moor Street stations.  We are 20 minutes from Birmingham International Airport by train, and are well served by an established road network.

We are on the fourth floor of Victoria Square House, a listed building that has been extensively refurbished with a very modern feel and modern equipment.

Our main office is open plan, and almost everyone, including our Management Board, are in open plan areas.   We have some larger social spaces for breaks and informal meetings, and a well-appointed boardroom and meeting area for official functions.

We also have approximately 45 compliance managers working across Great Britain. They have all had the communications, furniture and computing technology they need to work effectively set up in their homes.

Our approach to healthy working

Victoria Square House - interiorAt the Gambling Commission we believe that the wellbeing of our people is paramount and important to our success.  With this in mind we regularly develop new healthy working initiatives – for example, we have shower facilities installed in our main offices in Birmingham to encourage people to cycle or walk to work, and we have planned ‘health and wellbeing days’ at our main offices in Birmingham.

We also have in place an Employee Assistance Programme to help our people deal with difficult circumstances, and a comprehensive sickness absence policy in the unfortunate event that you are unwell.

Looking after our environment

We are committed to minimising our environmental impact and to improving our environment in whatever way we can, within reasonable financial and other resource limits.

At our offices this includes wide-ranging recycling measures, including paper, cans, plastic, glass and printer cartridges and we monitor our paper usage so that we can try to reduce it month on month.  Wherever possible our stationery is purchased from environmentally friendly sources.

We provide our remote workers with paper shredders so they can recycle their paperwork more effectively.  We are based literally a couple of minutes from New Street station and encourage the use of public transport, both for travel to work and for business purposes.

We also have an informal ‘Green Group’ made up of our employees where we discuss our targets and how to improve our environmental measures.
