Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA)
The Gambling Commission is committed to being open about what we
do and how we come to our decisions.
In accordance with FOIA we make information available and
regularly publish and update the information on our website. This
includes our publication scheme, which contains the information we
need to provide to comply with the Information Commissioner's
definition documents.
How much do we charge?
All the information provided on our website is available free of
charge. Requests for hard copies of this information may be
subject to charges for any expenses incurred, including
photocopying, printing and postage.
How to make an FOI request
If the information you are looking for is not on our website,
you can make an FOI request.
We will respond to requests for information as soon as possible and
within the statutory period (20 working days). If for any
reason we are unable to do this we will write to you and let you
know why.
FOIA provides limited circumstances where public authorities may
legitimately withhold requested information (the
exemptions). If the Gambling Commission decides that requested
information is exempt from disclosure we will write to you and let
you know why.
Instances where information may be exempt from disclosure
might include where that information relates to other identifiable
persons, where disclosure would undermine our work, including
operational activities and policy development, or where the
information requested is subject to legal professional
privilege.
Some of the information held by the Gambling Commission is provided
to us by other parties. Where this information is subject to a
request we will let the third party know, though the decision to
disclose remains our responsibility. We will not disclose
information to the detriment of any party’s commercial
