Casino games
In March 2011 the Gambling Commission
consulted on licence condition 9 of the Licence Conditions and Codes of Practice
(LCCP): Types and rules of casino and other games. The
licence condition was amended with effect from 20 June 2011 and
effectively removed the requirement for casino operators in Great
Britain to seek our approval to trial new games. We now only
prescribe a list of games that may not be played (none at
present).
We have published one final edition of
the
Rules of casino games in Great Britain - June 2011 to accurately
capture all those games, side bets and variations that were
available in GB casinos at the time that the new licence condition
came into effect on 20 June 2011.
From that date, we will only produce the
Rules of core casino games in Great Britain - June 2011 which will serve
as its replacement, and which outlines the basic rules of the most
popular casino games: roulette, blackjack, punto banco, three card
poker and dice. Player information on the specific rules and odds
applied to these and any other table games by individual operators
are displayed in each casino, as required by code of practice 3 of
the LCCP.
Operators who are interested in running a
trial of a new game, side bet or variation should contact the
industry-led Casino Games Review Group (CGRG) which has been set up
to co-ordinate new games and determine their suitability for the
market place.
More details about the work of the CGRG and contact details can be
found on its website (www.ukcasinotablegames.info)
on which all games currently being played are otherwise
detailed.
