Reporting suspicious bets to sports governing bodies
Under section 15.1 of the licensing
conditions and codes of practice - consolidated December
2011 (LCCP), licensed betting operators must provide the
relevant sports governing body (SGB) with information that they
suspect may:
- lead the Gambling Commission to consider making an order to
void a bet
- relate to a breach of a rule applied by that sport governing
body.
The information provided under section 15.1 of the LCCP must be
sufficient to conduct an effective investigation.
In June 2012 Part 3 of Schedule 6 of the Gambling Act 2005,
which lists the relevant sports governing bodies, was reviewed to
determine which SGBs should be included. This was to ensure better
coverage of the main sports in the UK and better reflect the
organisations that the Commission deals with on a regular basis.
Further information can be found on the
Department of Culture, Media and Sport website.
An up-to-date list of the sports governing bodies can be found
in the links section
of our website.
The LCCP also contains an ordinary code provision which requires
betting operating licence holders to take all reasonable steps to
familiarise themselves with the rules applied by relevant sports
governing bodies.

licensing conditions and codes of practice.
