What operating licences do I need - arcades?

The following types of operating licence apply to arcade businesses. Please read the details below to see which licence you need:

AGC operating licence

This licence allows you to offer up to four category B3 or B4 machines, or 20% whichever is greater, and an unlimited number of category C and D machines. Apply for an operating licence.

FEC operating licence

This licence allows you to have an unlimited number of  category C and D gaming machines. Apply for an operating licence.

Linked licences

If you already hold, or are applying for, an AGC operating licence or FEC operating licence, you may need to apply for a linked licence using the same application form as your main licence.

Linked gaming machine licence

A linked gaming machine licence allows you to supply, install, adapt, maintain or repair your own gaming machines, or part of a gaming machine. The cost of carrying out these activities must be no more than £50,000 per year to qualify for a linked gaming machine licence. If you exceed this amount you must apply for a gaming machine technical operating licence.

There is also a remote version of this licence which allows you to carry out these activities by remote communication.

Linked gambling software licence

A linked gambling software licence allows you to manufacture, supply, install or adapt the gambling software for your own use. The cost of carrying out these activities must be no more than £50,000 per year to qualify for a linked gambling software licence. If you exceed this amount you must apply for a gambling software operating licence.

There is also a remote version of this licence which allows you carry out these activities by remote communication.
