Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

A website offering gambling claims to be regulated by the Gambling Commission - how do I check they really are?

Gambling Commission licence holders must display a statement that they are licensed and regulated by us, and their licence number, on their website.  This is usually found at the foot of their webpages.  You can check these details against the register of operators whose licences have been granted by us.

Some websites offering gambling may falsely claim to be regulated by us. Before depositing any money with a gambling website, you should satisfy yourself that the provider is appropriately regulated. Information on how to do this is available in our quick guide What to look out for when gambling online - November 2008

If you are gambling online, please note that we do not assist in obtaining a refund of stakes placed by consumers. Details of how to complain about a gambling transaction are available on our website.
