Executive Director, Future National Lottery Competition

Location: London/Birmingham
Salary: c£100k

The Gambling Commission regulates commercial gambling in Great Britain. We are also responsible for regulating the National Lottery, protecting the integrity of lottery players and maximising funds to support sport, culture and community causes across the UK.

With the current licence, held by Camelot UK Lotteries Ltd, due to expire in 2023, we need to lay the foundations for, and then deliver, a robust, competitive process to license the National Lottery of the future.

Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Executive Director will lead on advising on lottery licence policy and then programme managing the competition for the licence. This will be a high-profile project working with the government and with very significant social, cultural and economic impacts.

You will be working in a fast-developing consumer market, operating in a global sector which is undergoing substantial change as technology and changing consumer behaviour drives product development and demand.

This is a senior and influential role both internally and externally and you will bring significant, relevant experience in a policy development and implementation environment. You will build your team with both external and internal hires and act as an intelligent client in relation to recruiting and managing suppliers and advisers. You will have strong economic and commercial awareness and, ideally, have experience and success in the sale, leasing, franchising, licensing or outsourcing of major public assets or infrastructure.

Saxton Bampfylde Ltd is acting as retained search agent for us on this appointment.
